This is one of my favourite dinners, we actually call it Naughty Bonito but that's just because I was unable to properly read what it said on the bonito tin and thought that's what it was called. I feel like that's embarrassing, so I just wrote it in this bit in the assumption no one will read it, but I also wanted people to know we're no so boring to just call it tuna spaghetti.

🛒Ingredients

  • 250grams of dried spaghetti
  • 1 tin of tomatoes
  • 1 tin of tuna or bonito
  • Handful of capers
  • Lemon
  • Chilli flakes
  • Dried oregano
  • 1 large (or 2 small) garlic cloves
  • Olive oil
  • 📖Method

  • In a large pan boil some salted water.
  • Blitz up your tinned tomatoes.
  • Heat a medium/large pan to medium heat and add a glug of olive oil and your garlic (whole).
  • Brown the garlic for a couple of minutes in the oil, you're just looking to flavour it, then remove.
  • Add your tin of tuna, and stir around a little. You might want to remove it from the heat for a moment whilst you do this because it spits.
  • Add in a pinch of your chilli, couple pinches of oregano and a handful of capers, mix through.
  • Add in blitzed up tomatoes and reduce it down until your pasta is done, roughly 15 minutes. You can turn the heat down a little at this point too.
  • Just before you add your pasta, squeeze the juice of 1 lemon
  • Once your pasta is cooked, transfer it to the sauce, avoid draining it, and if cooking spaghetti use tongs, or a slotted spoon. You'll want to splash a little of the pasta water in as you go.
  • Mix through, thoroughly coating the pasta.
  • Plate up and top with a drizzle of olive oil, and a good helping of black pepper.
